Conference 2007

Stonewall Cymru's Annual Conference took place on Saturday 31 March and was a huge success.

We were joined by representatives from the Police, Crown Prosecution Service, other safety organisations and people from the LGB community at the Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea for a lively and informative day exploring ways to tackle homophobic hate crime in Wales. Delegates:

• heard from the South Wales Police and the Crown Prosecution Service on positive work being done to challenge homophobic hate crime in Wales.
• participated in workshops exploring how the Police and safety officers can engage with the lesbian, gay and bisexual community (LGB) to improve community safety.
• Through a series of powerful monologues understood the effects of experiencing hate crime and the process of reporting the incident.

The aim of the conference was to increase lesbian, gay and bisexual people's confidence in the police and court services and encourage hate crime reporting leading to a reduction of homophobic hate crime across Wales.
