LGB Support and Social
LGB groups offer peer group support, the friendship and help of someone in the same situation and experiencing similar issues, to address the feelings of isolation and difficulties associated with 'coming out' and dealing with discriminatory social attitudes. The essential principles and functions of these groups are similar to other peer group organisations, such as Gingerbread, the support organisation for lone parent families.

The Dyn Project

Gay Bridgend

Currently held on the first Saturday of each month and starting on 19th May will also be on the middle Friday of the month.  The Saturday disco is open between 7:30pm and 12pm, Fridays 7:30pm and 11pm and are held at the Bridgend Conservative Club which is in easy walking distance of both the train and bus stations. The discos have proved very popular with the local gay and lesbian community.

Gay Outdoor Club

The Gay Outdoor Club operates throughout Wales and provides a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports and recreational activities LGBT men and women. These activities include walking, cycling, swimming, badminton, etc.

OLN Wales

OLN Wales is a self-supporting social network. All older women who define themselves as lesbian and who are committed to anti-discriminatory principles are welcome to attend the monthly social meetings.

The Rainbow Club - Torfaen

The Rainbow Club is a support and befriending group for any young person within the geographical area of South East Wales who is experiencing problems with their sexuality whether they are gay, lesbian or bi. The  club is for young people to support each other in understanding their sexuality, offer friendship and a place where they can gather information or access relevant material to other supporting networks. South East Wales LGB Forum

The South East Wales Forum works to empower LGB people living in South East Wales by enabling them to voice their needs and concerns in relation to service provision in their area. 

The Forum aims to secure appropriate and accountable services for LGB people in South East Wales by encouraging networking and creating a point of communication between the LGB community, local authorities and mainstream service providers. The Forum covers the 10 local authorities of Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan.

We need all voices, opinions and experiences to inform the Forum and will be delighted to welcome new people.

We hold monthly meetings and regular consultation events as opportunities for LGB people to be consulted.  Upcoming events include a consultation meeting in Monmouthshire in August and an LGB health event in Merthyr in October..

MindOut Cymru

The all Wales lesbian, gay and bisexual mental health network for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals who either have or have had contact with mental health services through being service users or workers, paid or unpaid.  This group supports the development of Mind's commitment to lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) mental health rights awareness programme.

The group:

  • Raises the profile of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals within mental health services; and of mental health issues within the LGB community.

Our mission is to promote participation in football within the LGBTI community in Cardiff, South Wales and beyond. We will achieve this by establishing LGBTI friendly football teams at 5 and 11 a-side levels.

We welcome people of all ages, abilities and sexualities. We have an active social wing, so non-players are more than welcome to join and enjoy the social events organised by the Club (eg attending football matches, nights out both on and off scene, meals out, etc).
