Welsh Development Agency SME Equality Project

The SME Equality Project is a WDA/European Social Funded Project.  It offers small and medium sized businesses an easy way to ensure compliance with legislation on equality in the workplace. We also help you benefit from improved employment practices through developing best practice more generally.

Some areas that the Project focuses on are:

  • Helping companies to develop contracts of employment
  • Developing discipline and grievance policy
  • Recruitment and selection policy
  • Maternity policy

Incorporating the Projects key areas which include:

  • Gender
  • Race
  • Disability
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Religion and Belief
  • Welsh Language
  • Age
  • Size

How does it work?

The Project is delivered by someone from a team of specialist experienced business advisors.
The advisors work with employers within agreed timescales to develop tailored policies and procedures in response to your specific business needs.
The intended result is that companies complete the Project with the peace of mind that they are adopting best practice in employment.

What will it cost?

It's all free of charge at the point of delivery.

What's in it for me?

Benefits reported by the 1700 organisations that have already taken part in the Project include:

  • Increased profits
  • Dramatically reduced staff turnover and associated costs
  • Ability to recruit from a wider pool of applicants
  • Lower levels of sickness and absence
  • Happier workforce
  • Greater productivity and performance from employees

And don't forget - understanding and complying with equal opportunities legislation will significantly reduce the risk of costly employment tribunals.
