The following information is specific to the Welsh context, legal powers, advice services and policy development.
The EHRC in Wales will work to the equalities context in Wales, and be able to set its own priorities to a certain extent. It will focus on 'cross-strand' working; that is taking account of the whole person and their disadvantage in society and economy in relation to combinations of sexual orientation, gender, age and ethnicity etc.
Stonewall Cymru is working closely with the National Assembly for Wales, Stonewall nationally, and the existing equality commissions in Wales to raise awareness of LGB inequality issues in employment, education, delivery of local services etc. We are also working with these partners to ensure that when the new body opens it is attuned to the equality needs of diverse populations in Wales, and is equipped to carry on the consensus working arrangements developed over time between and amongst the equality strands in Wales.

Stonewall Cymru is delighted that Neil Wooding, former co-Chair of Stonewall Cymru, has been appointed CEHR Wales Commissioner.
