Rhian Keyse, Youth and Education Officer at Stonewall Cymru said: “Stonewall research has shown that homophobic bullying is almost epidemic in Britain’s schools. It is clear that young people are directly affected by homophobic bullying, and so it makes perfect sense to us that they are centrally involved in tackling it. We are delighted to be able to work with young people in this way to equip them with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to lead their own anti-homophobic bullying campaigns, and make a real difference in their local communities”.
Volunteers aged 16-25 will be accredited on the Millennium Volunteers scheme and run a range of campaigns from presentations in schools to working with local authorities to challenge homophobic bullying.
