Stonewall Cymru, in partnership with North Wales Police and endorsed by the National Eisteddfod of Wales, are promoting a drinks mat campaign to encourage people to report homophobic abuse.
The drinks mats will be launched in August at the Eisteddfod Meirion a’r Cyffiniau in Bala. The North Wales Police Acting Chief Constable and Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas will sign a Declaration of Support for the campaign to tackle homophobic hate crime. People attending the Eisteddfod will have the opportunity to add their names to the Declaration at the Stonewall Cymru stall throughout the week.
The bilingual mat provides the North Wales Police phone numbers and says: Homophobic abuse, physical or verbal, is a criminal offence. North Wales Police will not tolerate homophobic abuse and you shouldn’t either, report it.
The drinks mat will be in use on the Maes and in Merionethshire pubs during the Eisteddfod Week and later across North Wales. You can help us by supporting the use of these drinks mats on the Eisteddfod Maes and across North Wales
