Stonewall Leadership Programme

Stonewall Leadership Programme 2009 - November 26-27, Ashridge Business School

The Stonewall Leadership Programme 2009 was held at the end of November at Ashridge Business School with 40 talented delegates, who worked through issues such as how to be an authentic leader, co-coaching on their leadership challenge and how their sexual orientation affects their leadership voice and the way that they interact with colleagues. The course was a great success with 83% of delegates rating it as ‘excellent’. We will continue to build on this and look forward to running the programme again next year.

Provisional dates for next year’s programme are 25-26 November 2010, and more information will be posted when it is available.

Stonewall Leadership Programme 2009

Objective:

To provide individual LGB leaders with new skills, knowledge and inspiration to exercise leadership more often in the workplace, benefiting both them and the organisations they work for.

Benefits for the Individual:

  • Realise your potential by examining your current leadership beliefs and behaviours
  • Understand your capacity to impact others and effect change
  • Acquire new skills to help you manage and interact in a range of business situations, increasing your capacity to achieve positive outcomes
  • Understand barriers and opportunities presented by being gay to being an effective leader, and how to handle these
  • Network with other openly-gay senior professionals across the private, public and third sectors

Benefits for the Organisation:

  • Improve retention of LGB staff by demonstrating your commitment to develop their talent
  • Demonstrate to your employees and other stakeholders your commitment to workplace diversity
  • Build your organisational capacity by creating a more diverse future leadership team and by getting the full potential from your existing LGB staff
  • Improve the productivity of your people – they perform better when they can be themselves, as recent Stonewall research on productivity demonstrates

Applicants:

Lesbian, gay and bisexual leaders - and those who show leadership potential - are invited to apply to this programme. Typically, participants will already be in management/leadership positions or will have demonstrated leadership potential.

As part of the selection process applicants will be asked to describe a current leadership challenge to work on over the two days, and what personal and organisational benefits they would hope to gain from the programme.
