How we work

Stonewall Cymru aims to achieve legal equality and social justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in Wales.

We work individually and in partnership with agencies, organisations, statutory bodies and individuals in to promote the human rights and equal treatment of LGBT people, challenge discrimination against LGBT people, articulate the needs and interests of LGBT people and represent these to the National Assembly for Wales and other appropriate bodies, and consolidate and develop the infrastructure with LGBT communities across Wales to enable them to contribute to and have representation in policy developments.

We do this by in a wide variety of ways, includingdeveloping policies, consultation and liaison with relevant groups and organisations, providing information and education (attitudinal and institutional), lobbying, community development, capacity building, and good practice design and advice.

We will strive to ensure our work reflects the diversity of the LGBT population living in Wales. We are committed to cross-Wales representation, gender and language parity, ensuring the representation of minority and marginalised communities, cross-party political representation, and representation from trade unions.
