Stonewall Cymru is always looking for new volunteers!
Whatever your time commitments, whatever skills you have, you can be assured there is a way to volunteer with us.
Volunteers are integral in the work that we do, and we aim to provide the best volunteer experience possible. We have a wide range of opportunities, each of which can be tailored to suit your individual skills and goals. We see volunteering as a two-way street – you are doing us a favour by giving your time, and we will provide opportunities for you to learn new things, develop your skills, and win awards for your commitment.
Information Service Volunteer
Stonewall Cymru’s Information Service responds to enquiries from people who need urgent details on LGBT rights. Many people who contact us have experienced discrimination and need to know how to take action, others may be planning to start a family or get married and have questions on the relevant legislation. Volunteers form the frontline of support by providing detailed responses and signposting people on to legal advisors, counsellors and community groups.
No previous experience is required. Volunteers get training and on-going support. You will learn a lot and get the opportunity to make a real difference for LGBT people across the country. Volunteers will be required to commit at least one shift a month.
Events Volunteer
Volunteers will support staff at events across the country, including Regional Prides, Eisteddfodau, as well as attending events without staff at smaller scale events. Duties will include selling merchandise, speaking to supporters about our work, and distributing resources. There will also be the opportunity for volunteers to organise their own events and fundraisers in aid of Stonewall. Full training will be provided. This opportunity would suit if you have limited time, or are looking to fit volunteering around work commitments
Project Volunteer
Volunteers will support staff with any project based task. This could include admin, preparation for events, social media etc.
This opportunity would suit if you would like to support the organisation on an ad-hoc basis. Though many of these shifts will be during office hours, located at our Cardiff office, there could be opportunities out of these times.
