Jake Williamson
Jake Williamson has played football from a grassroots level up to being in and around professional environments. He is now a multi-sports athlete and personal trainer who wants to help make the game more inclusive, such as through this role as a Sport Champion and further discussions. After coming out and experiencing first-hand how difficult that process is, he is now looking to assist others going through a similar journey.
Jake’s hopes for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport
My hope is for one day it to be more widely accepted and normalised that people don’t have to go through the internal suffering on their own. That being a LGBT+ person but also enjoying sports is celebrated rather than an easy opportunity for abuse leading to the absence of sport for some.
